Vastu for Pooja Room

Keeping a Pooja room or Meditaion room in your home or office is a great idea as it keeps the flow of positive aura across the premises. Here are some handy tips for your Pooja Room or Home temple.

  1. Northeast is the ideal location for making Pooja/ Meditation Room. This direction is governed by Devguru Brihaspati(Jupiter), and considered as most sacred direction in the building.
  2. If you have multi-story dwelling, then keep the Pooja room on Ground floor only.
  3. A low rising Pooja room or a Pyramid shaped Pooja room (like Temple) harness great positivity from the Sun and atmosphere.
  4. Pooja room should not be adjacent to Toilet or bathroom. Neither a toilet should be above or below it. Such an arrangement drains all positive energy.
  5. Pooja Room can’t be made under the stairs. It is also considered inauspicious as per Vastu.
  6. If you can’t have a separate Pooja room in the house, then make sure that it’s not in the bedroom. If its unavoidable then keep a Special Cupboard for the purpose whose door can be closed.
  7. Pooja room colour should be White, yellow or cream. It increases the positivity of Jupiter and creates a meditative environment. Pooja room should be well lit as well.
  8. Deities must be placed at least 6 inches above from the ground and there must be some space left behind.
  9. One must face towards East while doing Pooja or Meditation. It harness the positive energy from Sun.
  10. Lamp stand or Akhand jot should be placed in East or Southeast of the Pooja room.
  11. Make sure the deities are in perfect condition. Any Broken idols must be removed from the Pooja room immediately.
  12. Never put picture of your ancestors or deceased persons in the Pooja room.
  13. One shouldn’t hide any jewellery or valuables in the Pooja room.
  14. Under no circumstances one should sleep in the Pooja room.
