Balcony and Terrace Vastu.

Modern city living can’t be imagined without balconies and terraces. Terraces and balconies are like our windows to the outer world. Flat or Floor with balconies sell faster than the ones without these. As per Vastu we can’t have balconies in every direction.  There are certain rules to be followed for a healthy and prosperous life.

  • Balconies are a kind of extension of the main floor. These should be only in North, East or Northeast direction of the house.
  • The floor of balconies in north and east should be kept lower than the main floor or the building.
  • Balconies should be made rectangular in shape. Any oval or rounded corners is not considered good.
  • Sitting arrangement in Terraces and balconies should be towards South and West facing towards north and East. North and east should be kept empty and light.
  • Terraces and balconies in the South and west of the building are not considered good. If one has balconies in South and west directions, these must be kept closed or treated as per Vastu. A balcony in southwest should have heavy furniture. The floor of this balcony should also be higher than that of main building.
  • Small Herbs and flowerpots can be placed in balconies. Large plants and heavy pots should be avoided.
  • If the balcony is covered then the roof of the balcony should be of lesser height.
  • Slope of the roof of the balcony should be slanting towards North or East.
  • Tulsi plant(Holy Basil) is a panacea for any Vastu dosha in the house. Placing a Tulsi in balcony ensures positive vibes in the house.
